Context
Obico is an open-source platform for remote monitoring and AI failure detection of 3D printers. The client wanted its web experience as a native app, so makers can watch prints while away — and get alerted the moment something fails.
Challenge
Stream live camera video reliably across many printer setups, and push AI failure alerts to the phone in real time.
What I built
Native app for iOS and Android
A Flutter app that brings the web dashboard to the phone: onboarding, server account sign-in or self-hosted setup, and support for both OctoPrint and Klipper.
Live camera streaming
WebRTC live camera streaming, adapted to the many printer and webcam setups makers actually use.
Print control dashboard
Progress, temperatures, Z height, and pause / cancel controls — everything needed to manage a print remotely.
Real-time failure alerts
Push notifications the moment the platform's AI detects a failed print (spaghetti, clogged nozzle), integrated with the existing Django REST API.
